A leading global aerospace manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to join its Newton Abbot operation. This position is part of the senior leadership team and provides strategic HR support to approximately 400 employees within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities:
· Partner with the General Manager and Senior Leadership Team to drive contemporary HR practices and operating rhythms in order to meet business objectives with respect to a business of 400 employees within a manufacturing environment.
· Develop and implement a people strategy that promotes a performance management culture in order to ensure the Newton Abbot site has a capable, engaged and motivated workforce aligned to business goals.
· Lead the local HR and Occupational Health team of 4 x HR Advisors, 1 x Occupational Health Technician, and 1x Occupational Health Nurse.
· Provide expert guidance on all HR, Employment Law and Talent Development matters.
· Act as a confidential coach and sounding board to senior leaders and managers.
· Use data and people analytics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; propose and implement action plans accordingly.
· Support workforce planning with respect to recruitment plans, organisational design, restructuring, and change initiatives to ensure the right structures, roles and people are in place to enable business success and growth.
· Develop and own the organisational design and people plan in partnership with the business leaders in order to promote talent development, succession planning, and performance management, with specific focus on goal setting and the annual performance review process.
· Support the implementation of reward and recognition programmes, annual salary, and bonus review cycles.
· Provide guidance on job evaluations, internal equity, and market competitiveness in partnership with Compensation & Benefits.
· Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices are understood, applied consistently, and reviewed and updated in accordance with business and legislative requirements.
· Partner with the global HR team to identify and share in best practice processes.
· Drive the promotion of diversity and inclusion in order to increase and promote diverse talent and employee engagement within the business unit.
· Review, develop and support changes in working practices and terms & conditions of employment including compensation and benefits, shift patterns and organisation design to support business performance.
· Develop innovative, best practice solutions for complex HR & organisational issues and implement as appropriate.
· Responsible for the management and execution of the site Apprenticeship Programme ensuring that the programme meets business needs.
· Take the lead in consultation and negotiation with the recognised trade unions and work proactively to maintain a positive employee relations environment thereby avoiding disruption to the business through industrial disputes.
· Promote a pro-active HSE culture by ensuring the Occupational Health Department delivers a comprehensive occupational health service aligned to and in support of operational requirements, with specific focus given to the site Health Surveillance Programme and Management Referral process.
· Role-model and embed company values and desired leadership behaviours of Velocity, Integrity, and Teamwork.
Candidate Profile:
· 2 years+ experience as a Senior HR professional ideally in a manufacturing environment.
· Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
· Skilled negotiator with previous experience of Trade Union negotiations.
· Proven knowledge of employment law and HR best practice.
· Commercial acumen.
· Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field.
· Proven track-record of influencing and driving change.
· Strategic thought leadership coupled with a passion for developing and growing business acumen.
· Ability to connect and align HR strategy with business priorities.
· Demonstrated experience in leading HR teams.
· Ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
· Strong ability to coach and mentor talent.
· Experience in recruiting & staffing.
· Comfortable working in a constantly changing environment … adaptability & flexibility are critical.
· Proven ability to stand up for your convictions and influence leaders.
