Client Overview:
We are recruiting for an innovative organisation within the polymer sector who are seeking a sales development and marketing strategy manager with a technical background.
The role:
- The primary goal of this role is to secure deals with industrial partners, driving the commercial growth of polymer materials.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Lead Generation & Prospecting: Actively identify and target potential industrial partners in key sectors.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads, tracking progress and forecasting opportunities.
- CRO Contract Acquisition: Define and track the end-to-end sales process for CRO projects, working in close collaboration with the R&D team to develop and deliver compelling, client-specific offers that lead to successful contract closures.
- Sales Collateral Development: Create and continuously refine sales support materials, including presentations, email templates and website content, to effectively communicate value propositions.
Market & Strategic Analysis
- Market Research: Conduct continuous research on industry trends, competitor activities,and unmet market needs to identify new applications and business opportunities for their technology.
- Product Viability Analysis: Investigate the business potential and go-to-market strategy for new products and technologies developed by the R&D team.
Client & Relationship Management
- Networking: Actively engage in industry events, conferences and online forums to build a professional network and nurture strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring a smooth transition of projects to the technical team and maintaining client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
A degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering (Engineering School, Master's or PhD).
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in the chemical or materials sector, in a techno-commercial, market development or R&D role with a strong customer/market focus.
- Excellent knowledge of the industrial and R&D ecosystem is essential.
- Prior experience in selling R&D services is a valued plus.
