The Company:

Part of an international petrochemical and specialty chemical group, our client is a market leading £multi-million polymer compounder with a diverse customer base.

Primary Role:

· Maximise sales to satisfy business objectives, including volume, margin - and help manage payment overdues, stock profile with colleagues whilst following company policies, procedures and strategy.
· Manage a wide range of customers in terms of product application and geographical split.
· The role demands knowledge and understanding of a broad range of business activities including, PVC Compounding or general Compounding processes, financial, technical, processing, commercial and environmental issues relating to the target market sectors and customer base.

Accountabilities:

· Establish, maintain and develop contacts and relationships with customers to achieve sales targets (i.e. volume, margin and payment to terms) and service levels as defined by the business.
· Monitor and report monthly upon performance against budget (volumes and margin) – and detail specific customer, competitor and overall market activities to allow future development of business strategy and objective setting.
· Submit a monthly sales forecast (by customer, grade, colour, packaging) to optimise stock holding / control - and in turn assist planning in the optimisation of plant production scheduling.
· Set and gain approval for maximum credit limits for specific customers and ensure all payments are made to agreed terms in order to minimize overdue payments in accordance with the targets defined by the business.
· Minimize any slow moving or obsolete stock relating to their customer base in order to achieve targets set for stockholding, working capital and income.
· Improve market share by bringing in new customers, applications and expanding markets in order to achieve sales targets defined by the business.
· Drive the investigation of customer complaints internally and complete sign-off and approval with the customer within the allotted time period as defined by the business.
· Participate in SHE programmes to ensure that excellent SHE performance is achieved.

Candidate Profile:

· Graduate standard with at least 3 years commercial experience.
· Track record of working in the plastics industry selling compounds (polymers, TPEs or masterbatch)
· Market awareness of customers in this sector
· Technical sales and project management capability
· Prepared for some European travel in addition to the UK

· Assess customer needs and translate to internal departments (e.g. technical, planning, supply chain, finance)
· Independent worker but with good teamwork skills
