The Company:

A leader in the pulp and paper industry. Its main offerings include pulp used in textiles, various paper grades, packaging and specialty papers and emerging bio-based materials. These products serve markets such as clothing and textiles, printing and publishing, packaging, labelling and certain industrial applications.

The Role:

A strategic and experienced Engineering Manager who will lead a high-performing team responsible for the execution of large-scale capital projects and support of mill maintenance activities. This role oversees a team of technical specialists and engineers.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of 9 direct reports, including project engineers and technical specialists.
Oversee planning, budgeting, and execution of large capital ($5 million+) projects from concept through commissioning.
Provide strategic direction and technical oversight to ensure projects meet safety, quality, cost and schedule objectives.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance and corporate teams to align engineering initiatives with business goals.
Support mill maintenance activities by providing engineering expertise and resources as needed.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and professional development within the engineering team.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

The Candidate:

Degree educated in an engineering principle (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field); advanced degree preferred.
Proven leadership of engineering and project teams.
Strong project management experience working on capex projects in the region of $5 million and above.
Familiar with ERP systems, ideally SAP.
Proven in capital project success - timing and achieving capital spend targets.
Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
