Senior Design Engineer
Reporting to the Development Manager (Devices) you will generate detailed product design mechanisms and individual component parts, suitable for high volume manufacture.
You will create new design solutions, utilising an extensive knowledge of 3D CAD (preferably Unigraphics). Working within highly regulated and compliant industry sectors, you will be required to undertake design risk analysis, test products and produce technical reports to verify the product design.
You will identify and drive forward technical/CAE improvements to the product design and development process, supporting a modern culture of continuous improvement. Representing the design and development function at technical meetings with major customers and suppliers, you will be competent discussing all product requirements, mould tooling implications and be familiar with a range of polymer materials. A thorough understanding of the injection moulding process is essential.
The successful candidate should possess a relevant engineering qualification and have a minimum of 5 years experience designing plastic components and product mechanisms within a high volume automated assembly environment. A thorough appreciation of how products are manufactured and a commitment to take ownership for your decisions are key requirements of the post.

Description JOB PURPOSE: To provide an ongoing product design evolution and improvement continuum throughout the manufacturing life cycle, co-ordinating product improvement initiatives in partnership with the operations team and where necessary the customer.
1. Be the 'Design Authority' who provides ongoing designing expertise to the operational support team. Attend appropriate routine production meetings, product improvement sessions and customer complaint sessions.
2. Be the customer interface for product related initiatives that impact the customer. Establish an appropriate network of technical contacts with the customers and external suppliers.
3. Co-ordinate product related initiatives for new design variants, design changes and product improvement activities. Produce and agree project plans/ engineering change plans with internal and external staff. Manage the plans to time and budget, delivering commitments consistent with the agreed schedule and Quality standards. Ensure project progress is reported to company standard
4. Mentor, develop and performance manage members of the Development team that support the manufacture of marketed product. Evolve the processes and procedures related to the Development D 'Product Support' function and ensure the team is developed to have necessary skills needed to deliver against the teams agreed objectives.
5. Generate/ revise and maintain supporting product design records within the Design History File such as: Change Control documents, Product related specifications, CAD Data, SAP Master Data, Development samples. Also maintain documentation that details the functionality and criticality of the design and share this knowledge with designated staff.
6. Promote company service offering and technical capabilities and support current and future business winning initiatives. Generate technical proposals as appropriate.
Engineering Degree Level or Equivalent in Mechanical, Production or Product Design. A formal Engineering apprenticeship is advantageous.At least 5 years experience designing components for high volume injection moulded parts and associated automation and posses good project management skills and problem solving techniques

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT
Responsible for the efficient, cost effective and safe tool maintenance and tool changeovers at the manufacturing facility.
KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Tool Change department
Supervise, develop and motivate the tool build, tool fitting and condition-stetting department to ensure the most efficient use of labour at all times and that tool changeover times are kept to a minimum without compromising product quality.
Liaise with the production supervisors and planning department to ensure the most efficient change over schedule developed, this is to be achieved with out compromising the customer requirements.
Develop and train tool build, tool fitting, and condition setting personnel to improve overall skills levels. This is to be achieved by developing the skills / training matrix, and arranging for appropriate training to take place.

REPORTING TO: - Maintenance Manager

Role Description:-
1. To carry out modifications, improvements to all aspects of the site Control systems.
2. To undertake any programming breakdown as requested to a satisfactory conclusion.
3. To train and develop all site engineering personnel and enhance the skills in programming on the site.
4. To ensure all interface equipment is controlled in such a manner as only authorised personnel can use.
5. To enhance the engineering standards of the plant with the use of a thorough planned maintenance system.
6. To liaise with other functions such as contractors, Plant manager, project mangers, maintenance managers and Team leaders to ensure adequate information is relayed to optimise performance.
Direct Responsibilities:-
1. To develop engineering personnel on site in PLC control systems and programming
2. To ensure hygiene and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
3. To ensure the company Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.
4. To control all PLC related spares on site in conjunction with SAP
5. To set up and organise a PPM schedule for all control systems on sites and electrical control panels
6. Suggest and initiate new projects to enhance the sites performance.

8. Responsible for all control related breakdowns with in the site or when engineering team require assistance.
9. Ensure a catalogued back up of all plant programmes are accessible at all times and checked on a regular basis.

11. To ensure all trunking and wiring is neat and tidy in all electrical panels.
12. To ensure all electrical drawings are updated when required and indexed in files for future reference.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
A highly motivated individual, at best working within a team but equally capable of working on an individual basis.
Must have extensive experience of the injection moulding process and have adopted a 'hands on' approach.
Although working within a 'hands on' environment, experience must be complemented with good man management and decision making skills.
Applicants will require a diverse experience of materials and tools and have learnt different methods of control and waste reduction, missed deliveries and management of any customer concerns.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals such as 5C, Kanban, OEE, Problem Solving etc extremely beneficial.
Automotive industry experience preferable, but not essential.
